P20xx fault codes: Fuel, air and emission controls
These codes extend the P00xx and P01xx series: intake manifold flaps, exhaust temperature sensors, and the after-treatment systems of recent engines, such as the diesel particulate filter and the AdBlue/SCR system.
How to read this code
The letter P names the system: Powertrain. The next digit, 0, locates the fault: fuel, air and emission controls.
These codes are generic: they mean the same thing on every make. Some manufacturer tools display them with a two-digit suffix, such as P0101-00 or P010100: the suffix refines the fault type, and the base code keeps its meaning.
